The biggest mistake I made when I started working on my own was thinking that I could do everything myself.
Most of my mentors and coaches were in the form of books and podcasts.
Don't get me wrong, it's one of the best ways to go straight to the top and get the best knowledge possible.
But, there's nothing like having conversations with real people about the specific challenges you are facing.
It's so easy to get tunnel-vision and be blind to solutions that can be staring you in right the face.
One thing I found useful was to form a small 'mastermind' group with likeminded people who can push and support each other.
We have regular Skype calls (due to two of us being at opposite ends of the UK and one of us being in South Korea) where we discuss our weekly goals, and the progress we've made in the previous week.
I find it a really powerful way to stay motivated and action-focussed.
There's nothing like being accountable to other people to make sure you deliver what you do what you say you're going to do.
A good tip is to find people who are communicating with the influencers who you follow.
Look who is engaging with them and start conversations. Try to find people who are on the same journey as you... People with compatible skills who you can swap/share skills with for the benefit of you all.
I've been able to form several collaborative partnerships using this tactic.
Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions on how to go about doing this. I'd be happy to offer any help and advice that I can.
