Normally on my walk to work, I'll listen to a bit of a podcast or audiobook... Something educational to utilise the time as best I can.
I've mixed it up a bit this week and have been listening to a 'motivational' playlist I've made on Spotify.
Maybe it's a bit cheesey, but I don't mind that.
Music changes moods and can be used to create any mindset you want.
If you go for a run, you may choose something positive and upbeat with a quick pace. People are pretty familiar with this.
But I thought I'd try listening to a handful of songs each morning that will improve my mood and mindset.
I wanted songs with either a positive message, or ones that fire me up and spur me to action.
So, as naff as some of them may be, here are the songs I have so far... (Feel free to add any that you listen to in the comments, I'd love some suggestions!)
Alive - P.O.D
Lose Yourself - Eminem
Dyers Eve - Metallica
From This Day - Machine Head
Tubthumping - Chumbawamba (Sorry!)
Don't Damn Me - Guns 'n' Roses
You're The Best (From Karate Kid I) - Joe Esposito
The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears - Machine Head
Ain't talkin' 'Bout Dun - Apollo 440
The line that stuck in my head this morning was from 'The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears'.... It says 'I built these walls around me and can break them all away'.
I've heard this song dozens of times and have never really thought about that line before.
We hold ourselves back more than anyone else. Most barriers you see in front of you can be broken through.
Stick some uplifting tunes on and alter your mindset... It's got me writing my blog post early today, so there must be something to it!
